Which type of learner you are ?
Worldwide researcher have found that there are 4 types of learners.
Visual learners (20.6%)
Auditory learners(25.1%)
Kinesthetic learners(27.6%)
And Read/write learners(26.8%)
In these, kinesthetic learners has a slight edge over other types. A test survey shows their standings in %.but no need to grumble.It is not a conclusion.
VISUAL LEARNERS
· Learners they tend to be fast talkers may even interrupt.
· Learn by seeing like charts, Maps and diagrams etc.
· Need quiet study time may think in pictures.
· Take detailed note.
· Like to sit at front row in the classroom.
For them is easy -Diagrams, reading maps and essays and anything in which process is shown.
They dislike -to listen and respond test.
Suggested is -Draw or outline the information you need to remember.
Copy what is on the board.
Diagram sentences.
Take notes and make list.
Colour code, highlight, circles and underline words in your notes.
Use flashcards.
This is enough for today.
Auditory learners:
1) Tend to speak slowly, can explain things well.
2) Tend to be natural listeners.
3) Tend to repeat things aloud.
4) Think linearly.
5) Read slowly.
6) Prefer to hear rather than read information.
Suggestion:
· Use word association to remember facts & lines.
· Record lectures and watch videos.
· Repeat facts with eye closed.
· Participate in group discussions.
· Record notes after writing them.
Good at: writing responses to lectures they have heard; oral exams.
Bad at: reading passages and writing answers in timed tests.
Kinesthetic learners:
1) tend to be slow talkers.
2) learn by doing and solving life problems.
3) like hands on approaches, gestures.
4) can't sit still for long. Get fidgety.
5) takes break when studying.
6) suffer from short attention spans.
Suggestion:
· Study in short blocks
· Take lab classes.
· Go on field trips.
· Study with others.
· Use memory games & flashcards to memorize facts.
Good at: short definitions, fill ins, multiple choice.
Worst at: long essays, tests.
Read & write learners:
Prefers to learn by reading everything and memorize it. They combine all these but there is no specific single form they adopt.
Most of the learners learning patterns:
· 10% by reading.
· 20% by hearing.
· 30% by seeing.
· 50% by seeing & hearing.
· 70% by what we discuss.
· 80% by what we experience.
· 95% of what we teach to others.
