Why and who cursed him.
A group of forest sages cursed Hanuman during his childhood due to his mischievous behaviour and repeated disturbances of their meditation. Hanuman, possessing immense strength and powers given by various gods, He was also testing those powers there on sages forests uprooting trees, then jumping from branch to branches of big trees due to which they were broken then wild animals chasing and after catching lifting with their tails and throwing them on the ground or towards trees trunk, due to which their life was also in danger. There he often playfully teased and interrupted the sages while they performed their rituals. Worships. To curb his behaviour without causing him harm, the sages collectively cast a minor curse. This curse was not a punishment but a safeguard, ensuring that Hanuman’s strength and abilities were used judiciously and for righteous purposes.
The curse stated: Hanuman would forget his great strength and divine powers, but with a condition—he would recall these abilities only when someone reminded him of his glories and powers at the right moment. This ensured his powers would not be misused in childhood and would become accessible only in times of true need, guided by wisdom or a righteous reminder.
When Jambavan reminded Hanuman of his divine origin and the boons granted by Gods, the latent powers were awakened and Hanuman performed his legendary feats in the service of Lord Rama.
